The China Point Road Race is a two-stage race comprised of an Individual Time Trial (ITT) in the morning and afternoon Road Race (see map link below). Racers begin the 9.6km ITT at the Pownal Rink and sweep along the Alexandra shoreline to the finish line at the infamous Tea Hill climb. Finish times are recorded and added to the rider’s GC (General Classification—combined ITT and Road Race finish time).
After a 2-hour recovery period the second stage of the race begins from the Cherry Valley Community Centre (a short drive from Pownal). The fairly level 10km course allows sprinters to shine as competitors power along the scenic Northumberland Strait shoreline. Land, Sea and sky will bleed into one another as riders strive to control the front of the peloton.
There will be optional categories for riders wishing only to compete in one stage of the event and, as always, ability specific categories (of differing race lengths) will be offered to suit every rider.
