a CYCLINGPEI Citizen Series Event...

The "8 Hour Grunt" has become a Mountain Biking tradition on PEI.  Each summer riders look foreword to the Grunt as fun day of Mountain biking in support of our youth Mountain Bikers on PEI.    Riders competing in the Dalvay by the Sea/CPEI Citizen points series should be sure to attend the event.

The 8 Hour Grunt is a team event that benefits the Rigid Riders by randomly picking an elite and a sport rider for their team. Every year is a close race. This year we are introducing a new category for riders who wish to form their own teams. In the true festival spirit these teams must register no later then 8:30am and race in matching costumes. We have also head requests for solo riders, this year we will be allowing solo riders as long as they race on a bike with an obvious mechanical disadvantage ie banana seat low rider, singlespeed, etc

CPEI sanctioned races will be hosting Riders of Tomorrow fun races prior to the main event. These mini events are for the younger kids and take place in the parking lot of the event. They last about 5 minutes and give the kids the opportunity to participate. All participating youth will receive an award. Parents are asked to participate as well. Riders of Tomorrow is a free event and is open to kids under the age of 12.
