Gran Fondo PEI 2020 - Cancelled

Fri, August 28th, 2020 — Sun, August 30th, 2020

a CYCLINGPEI Sanctioned Event...

This is CPEI's 7th annual Gran Fondo, beginning and ending at the Delta Hotel in downtown Charlottetown.  Three days of exceptional riding coinciding with a Jazz and Blues Festival and culinary treats planned by Island chefs. Bigger and better in 2020. .

Gran Fondo PEI will take riders on three days of riding experiences so close to the Atlantic Ocean that you will almost taste the salt water. Created by Cycling PEI, our unique gran fondo includes scenic views so breathtaking they are renowned worldwide.

There is simply no better way to experience Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province, than traveling off the beaten path, on a course that stretches from shore to shore, past wetlands and hardwood groves, through picturesque fishing villages, and along sand dunes and scenic rivers.

Gran Fondo PEI offers a cycling experience for everyone. We have designed gran- and medio- fondos, plus additional rides over three days, emphasizing the beauty of PEI.

Advanced cyclists will have plenty to challenge themselves and can bring their friends and family to share this riding experience. Three days of rides + great music + regional culinary delights = a getaway you'll want to repeat annually.

All participants will find the combination of rides for them along with the opportunity to experience the culture and cuisine exclusive to Prince Edward Island.

The PEI Jazz and Blues Festival, deep-sea fishing, golf excursions plus world-class culinary experiences are ongoing throughout the three days.

Amazing culinary

For some, food is just fuel to get us over that next climb or win that next sprint... but for most, experiencing Prince Edward Island's fine flavours creates lasting memories!

What's our secret? It’s simple! Our secret ingredient is our people.

Prince Edward Island is home for farmers, fishers, artisans, producers, chefs, and generations of families that have passed down their passion for local food.

We’re the home of “roll-up-your-sleeve” people who know what it’s like to get your hands dirty on a farm or to have saltwater spray over the boat as we bring up the latest catch.

We’re also generous, friendly folk who enjoy having guests over. We know how to have a good time, and we want to share these experiences with you.

So let's cycle hard and get hungry! There’s always room at our table.

  • Morning coffee
  • Nutrition support
  • Lunch stops
  • Island flavours banquet
  • Handcrafted microbrews!
  • Lots of tasting!
Stay and Play

We know you're coming for the amazing cycling experience, but we'd love for you to Stay and Play!

Whether you approach Prince Edward Island by land, sea, or air, you'll feel a strange excitement begin to stir as you wonder, "What will it be like there?" No guarantees, of course, except that your heart rate will slow, your smiles will last longer, and you'll sometimes forget where you left your shoes. You will never be ready to leave!

Roam our colourful countryside, stroll along the many miles of beaches, golf at a top-rated course, participate in a kitchen ceilidh, browse through our many craft shops, enjoy our Authentic PEI Experiences, or simply laze in a hammock.
