Cycling PEI Jobs Posting - Positions Available

Position #1 is a student position for a laborer for the Cardigan Trail Project. To be eligible you must:

Position is 35-40 hours/week with a 5-day average work week. The work can be weather dependant so days with inclement weather may be days off with those days to be made up. The wage range is $15.36 to $18.36/hour including vacation pay. Actual wage depending on experience and qualifications. The wage can be adjusted from the starting wage to a higher wage if student shows strong work ethic. Position is to last 8-10 weeks. The job site is in Cardigan and the student is expected to provide their own transportation to job site.

Must have valid drivers license or be able to obtain transportation to job site. Landscaping or previous labor experience and Provincial forestry chainsaw certification an asset. Must be physically fit and able to work as part of a team. Dependable and able to work unsupervised. Able to take direction and complete assigned work to standard.

Duties include but are not limited to: clearing brush and debris from trail, trimming trees, cutting by hand saw unless chainsaw certified, ground work, landscaping, root removal, bench cutting, and raking. Trail construction including any board walking or bridging if necessary.

Report directly onsite to the Chief Trail Designer and to the Project Manager. Start date June 15th with the possibility of starting sooner.

 

Position #2 is a student position for an Events Coordinator but person does not have to be in school or returning to school and:

 

(a) is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

(b) is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and

(c) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

 

Position is 35 hours/week with a 5-day average work week with work on weekends and some evenings. The wage range is $13.50 to $15.50/hour depending on qualifications. Position starts June 8th but may start sooner if quality candidate is found and is complete the end of August.

 

Must have valid drivers license and have own vehicle. Must be able to work as part of a team. Dependable and able to work unsupervised. Able to take direction and complete assigned work. Preference goes to post secondary Recreation/Kinesiology programs or business program.

 

Duties include but are not limited to: Pre and post press releases, event balance sheet, registration at each event, membership data base, licensing, photos at events, bank deposits preparation, registration forms, set up race course, food and prizes, signage and equipment for each race.

 

Report directly to the Executive Director and indirectly to the President of Cycling PEI.

 

Position #3 is an adult position for a laborer for the Cardigan Trail Project. To be eligible you must:

          Be registered with the Provincial Job Registry. Go to https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/search/site?keys=Provincial+Job+Registry&op=search

to register on the registry.

          Be a PEI resident that is eligible to work in Canada; and

          30 years of age or older.

            Have exhausted all EI eligible hours.

The wage can be adjusted from the starting wage to a higher wage if employee shows strong work ethic. Position is to last 13 weeks. The job site is in Cardigan and the employee is expected to provide their own transportation to job site.
