The second criterium training event is planned for Canada Day in Summerside.
The event provides an opportunity for cyclists to gain familiarity with the various aspects of criterium racing. The first training criterium event was a great learning experience for the riders.
This will be the last criterium training event before the Slemon Park Hotel and Conference Centre's P.E.I. Bike Fest criterium scheduled for July 15, as part of a three stage bicycling race that will crown the Maritime Cyclist Grand Champion in different categories.
For this training ride, riders are asked to meet at the Summerside Industrial Park and the training ride will start at 8 a.m. Like all training rides, a membership to the Summerside Cycling Club ($40) for the year is required. If already a member of Cycling P.E.I., an additional $10 is required to become a Summerside Club Member. This membership entitles a person to participate in all recreational and training bicycling events for the entire year.
"This will likely be one of the largest turn-outs for a Club training event this year," says Club Founder Ken Trenholm. For more information, visit www.summersidecycling.com or contact Ken at 888-3878.
