The Dalvay By the Sea/Taylor?s garage finished with three podiums at the Kings County Classic in Sussex on Sunday, May 28, 2006.
In the Junior Category Dalvay/Taylor?s Mitch Armstrong finished first and Mitchell Jay finished third after both riders leading an early break during the halfway mark of the 80 km very hilly race.
In the Elite Open Male Category Dalvay/Taylor?s racers Mark Grimmett and Geoff MacDonald were helped by fellow islander Cory Jay when the three attacked after forty kilometers of the hilly one hundred kilometer race. They were joined by Dartmouth?s Geoff O?Toole. The field was broken apart with this attack but the foursome had to pull in one rider Shaugn Smith of Saint John who made an amazing attack early on in the race. The four chased until they had Smith within reach but chose to leave Smith alone in front. Unfortunately this proved to be a costly mistake as the four riders dropped the pace allowing Smith to widen his lead and hold out for the win.
In the sprint to the finish MacDonald and O?Toole were led out by Jay with MacDonald taking the sprint. Mark Grimmett finished a solid fifth.
The Dalvay/Taylor?s team is looking forward to the China Point Road Race on Sunday to continue their successful start to this years season.
