Souris Cycling Club Gains Momentum
     July 17, 2008

The Souris Cycling Club is now a fixture at the Souris Striders Ski Lodge on Thursday nights in the spring and summer!  Bob Lyons and Eric Campbell do a great job organizing the rides each Thursday and the kids' cycling skills are improving in leaps and bounds -- literally!  Kudos to Bob and Eric as well as parents Danielle Mill and Carmen Veld  who also ride along with the group.

A super mountain bike race was held at the Souris facility on June 29 called the Souris "Main Event". This first-time event had 6 Riders of Tomorrow race a shortened course, while 10 older racers biked a new 3 km race course.   Good times were had by all on this flat but technical trail.  Brisk South winds kept the bugs down and the rain held off (mostly!).

Coming events for the Souris Cycling Club include a race under the lights in October.  Check the CPEI website as more details become available about this exciting and unique race opportunity.

Riders aged 6 to 12 are invited to come on out for a ride with the Souris Cycling Club Thursday nights.  Rides usually start at the Souris Striders Ski Lodge on the Souris Line Road.  Contact Mike Connolly at 368-4985, mconnolly@sportpei.pe.ca or Luke MacDonald at 940-7440 td@cpei.ca for more information.  As always a CPEI membership is required for sanctioned rides, so sign up online today!
